We asked Georgette what the trends are for Prom 2012:
Q: What were some trends you saw across the 2011 Prom collections? How are the different from 2012?
Georgette: Last year it was all about animal prints and abstract printed designs. Pastel prints were popular. There were little touches of sparkle and embellishment. This year prints are still hot. I saw lots of bright, beautiful colors when previewing the collections! Choosing the right bright color can really make features pop! Last year's sparkle is pumped up this year- almost every designer made lots of dresses with major sparkle and shine! We saw more asymmetrical dresses this year than last.
Q: What about silhouette? Will there be short, long, flowing, or tight fitted dresses?
Georgette: Almost anything goes now! A few years ago a lot of girls were requesting shorter dresses, but the trend is back to long! We have ordered a bit of everything- from classic styles to cut-outs. I think we have something for every girl this year.
Q: What advice can you give to girls on finding their perfect dress?
Georgette: Shop early. Many of the best prom stores, including our store, register prom dresses. This means they won't sell you a dress if someone is already wearing to your event. Also, be careful about shopping online. Every year I hear sad stories about girls who ordered online and the dress comes late or it dose not fit right or the fabric didn't look like the picture, or one girl was even sent the wrong dress and had to come into the store 2 days before her prom! Luckily, we were able to help her find a dress that looked beautiful on her.
